The Discord Photo Contest Bot

Members submit their best shot with one button, moderators approve it, and your server rates every photo from 1 to 10. The gallery in your channel ranks them live, round after round.

Scoreboards turns a photography channel into a running photo contest: a theme, one button to enter, a star menu to vote, a moderator check before anything goes live, and a podium when the round ends. Run it every week and your server keeps a frozen record of every round's winners.

The basics

How a photo contest works on Discord

You create an Image Rating leaderboard for the round, "Golden hour" or "Shot on a phone", and post it in your photography channel. Members press Submit image, give the photo a title and attach it.

With approval on, each photo waits for a moderator before it joins the gallery, so off-theme or unsuitable shots never reach the board. Approved photos are rated from 1 to 10 stars by the server, or by the judges you pick.

The board ranks the photos by their average rating and shows the vote count beside each. When the round ends, the board freezes, posts the podium, and the next theme starts on a fresh board.

Cast a vote

Rate either entry from 1 to 10 stars. The board sorts by the average, and each member's vote counts once: vote again and it replaces the first.

The board sorts on the average to two decimals. The gallery in Discord prints it to one, as ★ 8.5.

Features

What the photo contest bot does for you

Moderator approval

Set Auto Approve to Off and every photo waits in the log channel for Approve or Reject, or approve automatically after a delay from 1 hour to 7 days.

One best shot each

Max Submissions caps photos per member, one to three works well, so the gallery holds everyone's best rather than everyone's camera roll.

Weekly rounds

Give each round an end time. The board freezes when it passes, posts the podium, and the next round starts on a fresh board.

A gallery in your channel

The board shows every photo beside its rank, title, photographer, average and vote count, eight to a page, and reorders as the votes come in.

Rate every photo, privately

Rate entries walks a member through the photos they have not rated yet, one at a time, starting at a random one so no photo is always seen first.

Photos stay with your server

On the board's web page, signed-in members of your server see every photo full size and can rate it there. Visitors from outside see the ranking, never the pictures.

A podium every round

The weekly recap shows the leading photo while the round runs, and the season's end posts the top three with the averages final.

From theme to podium

A photo challenge in four steps

Entries come in through the board's own button, a moderator approves them, and the server votes with a star menu. Members can also submit and rate from the board's web page.

  1. 01

    Set the theme

Create a board named after the round's theme, set how many photos each member may enter, and schedule the round's end.

  2. 02

    Members submit

Submit image takes the title and the photo in one form, from Discord or from the board's web page.

  3. 03

    Moderators approve

Each photo waits in the log channel for Approve or Reject, so only on-theme shots join the gallery.

  4. 04

    The server rates

Members rate each photo from 1 to 10 stars, change their vote if they want, and the gallery ranks the round by its averages.

The best photo, not the most popular

Photos rank on their average rating, with the vote count beside it, so a strong shot with fewer votes can beat a weaker one with many.

Room for everyone

An entry cap and approval keep each round small enough that members actually look at every photo before they vote.

Every round on record

Each round is a season. Finished rounds stay frozen with their podium, so the server can look back at every winner.

In Discord

Every entry is a message, every vote a menu

With a log channel, every entry is posted there with a star menu under it. Rate entries on the board takes members through the ones they have not rated yet, privately.

Each entry is one message: the picture, who sent it, its rating and a menu from one to ten stars. With blind voting on, the sender and the rating stay hidden and only the number of votes shows, until you reveal the results.

FAQ

Discord photo contest FAQ

How do I run a photo contest on Discord?

Add Scoreboards to your server, run /leaderboard create, name the board after the theme and pick Image Rating. Members submit their photo with the board's Submit image button and the server rates each one from 1 to 10 stars. At the end of the round, end the season: the board freezes and posts a podium of the top three.

Can moderators approve photos before they go live?

Yes, when the board has a log channel. Set Auto Approve to Off and every photo waits there for a moderator to press Approve or Reject, or pick a delay from 1 hour to 7 days to approve whatever nobody has reviewed by then. New boards start on Instant.

Can I limit each member to one photo?

Yes. Set Max Submissions to 1 in the dashboard. Photos waiting for approval count towards the limit, and a rejected photo frees its slot so the member can send another.

How is the winning photo decided?

By its average rating. The board sorts the photos by their average, highest first, and shows each one's vote count beside it. There is no minimum number of votes, so leave time for everyone to rate before the round ends.

Can I run a new photo challenge every week?

Yes. Schedule the round's end time in the dashboard: when it passes, the board freezes with its podium posted and the next round starts on a fresh board. To stop new entries earlier while voting continues, turn off Accepting Submissions.

Can people vote for their own photo?

Unless you turn it off. With Allow Self-Voting off, nobody can rate their own photo, in Discord or on the website. The Vote Log in the dashboard shows every vote, flags votes on people's own photos and lets you remove any vote.

Who can see the photos?

In Discord, whoever can see the board's channel. On the board's web page, only signed-in members of your server see the photos; visitors from outside see the ranking without pictures. Votes show without the voter's name unless you turn off Anonymous Votes.

Your next photo challenge, run by the bot.

Submissions, approval, voting and a podium every round, all inside your Discord server.
